Amy Sachs Yam

DVM – Medical Director

Dr. Amy Sachs Yam is originally from Syracuse, New York, but relocated to Falls Church after veterinary school. She completed her undergraduate and professional degrees at Cornell University, graduating with her DVM in 1998.

She is active in many professional associations such as the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. She also served on the Recent Graduate Task Force and Leadership Council for the American Animal Hospital Association and is Immediate Past-President of the DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine.

She has worked a Falls Church Animal Hospital since June 1998 and has an active interest in canine and feline endocrinology and internal medicine. Outside the office, Dr. Yam enjoys spending time with her husband Kevin, her two sons Benjamin and Mitchell, and her three cats—Tilly, Scout and Jem. One of her favorite aspects of working at Falls Church Animal Hospital is living in the community that she serves. Even her husband is amazed when she goes for a walk on the WO&D trail and recognizes the dog before she recognizes the human family member!
